As a biomedical engineering research laboratory we need participants for all of our studies in some capacity. We do use resources like publicly available data bases, This is not always possible for all of our studies. We will recruit participants from the local community. This means when the university is in its regular academic year we will use students and/ or athletes from Umass Lowell. These students tend, but not always, to serve a our 'healthy' population to compare to in studies. However we do not use student populations exclusively. We will go into places like community centers, use word of mouth, or reach out to those we have personal connections with to gather participants.
