Identifying Information
If you are a participant you will need to provide some personal information. The information needed will very between studies some examples are you age, race, relevant medical history (like the presence of a joint replacement for biomechanics studies). This information will be kept separate from the data we use. Your data will be given a code and de-identified so it is unlikely to be traced back to you. There is always risk your identifying information can be leaked, we will take every step in our power to prevent this. If you do not want to risk any personal or identifying information you may simply not be a participant
Risks as a participant
Each study we conduct comes with a unique set of risks. When planning our study we consider all the reasonable risk mitigation steps we can take. We always disclose these to our Institutional Review Board before getting their input and approval. We will disclose any relevant risks during participant intake. The University of Massachusetts Lowell does not provide funds for the treatment of research-related injury. If you are injured as a result of your participation in any of our studies, you or your insurance carrier will be expected to pay the costs of this treatment.
Video/ Photo Publication
All persons taking still photographs or videos for UML-related Research publications must obtain a signed release form from anyone who is visibly recognizable in the photograph. Crowd scenes where no single person is the dominant feature are exempt.
