Maria a senior biomedical engineering student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a concentration in Cell and Tissue Engineering. she currently works as an undergraduate research assistant at the REACH Lab, where she assists with human-subject testing, data collection, and data analysis. Her goal is to better understand how concussion impacts postural control and balance. Maria also has experience in a tissue engineering lab where she have acquired skills in cell culture, cell viability assay, and biomaterials. Additionally, she has gained experience in biomanufacturing through industry and biomedical device development through her senior capstone project, focused on developing a fractional skin device for treating precancerous skin lesions. These experiments have helped strengthened her interest in applying biomedical engineering approaches in healthcare challenges.  After completing her bachelor’s degree, she plans to pursue a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and conduct research that improves human health.
