Our mission at the REACH lab is to spearhead

Clinical-based, biomedical engineering and human performance-related research

Toward a broad range of impaired and unimpaired populations. We seek to find  

New applications of technology to improve human performance for everyone.

Our facilities are utilized to help all our researchers gain new knowledge and to prepare students to work as biomedical engineers.

We are a research laboratory located at The University of Massachusetts Lowell and out of the Biomedical Engineering department. Our Principal Investigator is Dr. Lara Thompson

REACH Researchers

We have a team made up of undergraduate students, graduate students and university staff

Within the REACH Researchers are the graduate students. these individuals are studying to get their Masters Degree or a doctorate. A major part of their curriculum is completing research and thesis projects

Within the REACH Researchers we have a number of undergraduate Research Assistants. Thee students spend a portion of their time in classes but when their schedules allow they will assist with tasks like Data Collection or Data processing. A few of these students even have their own research projects.

Our students receive support from a number of university staff members. Some hold advisory roles while others act as support to the REACH Researchers

Biomechanics

We use equipment like our Motion Capture cameras to collect data on how our participants move

Clinical assesments

We use the same assessments that clinicians use to acquire accurate data

Biosensing

We use a variety of sensors from IMU to EMG in order to collect human porformance data
